  • We have selected cashews for three reasons: Sustainability, Taste, and Health.

    Cashew nuts are an incredibly sustainable option for cheese alternative products. Cashew trees grow in the wild in a natural rainforest environment and require no extra maintenance or water. Even with transportation, the carbon footprint of the final product is only 1/10th of that of traditional cheese. The mild but sweet taste of the cashew nut is relatively easy to mask in the cheese, resulting in a product that tastes like real cheese rather than a nut product. From a health standpoint, cashews are full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants and are also free from cholesterol.

  • We craft all our products using just 4 simple and pure ingredients: organic cashew nuts, water, sea salt, and plant-based cultures. Depending on the cheeze flavour, we incorporate organic and locally produced spices and herbs. Our commitment is to steer clear of preservatives and artificial aromas in our cheeze.

  • Our cashews are not only organic and fair trade, but they are also 100% processed and packaged at the source in Burkina Faso. The entire manufacturing process operates within national borders, significantly reducing CO2 emissions. In 2018, 1,540 workers supported their families through their employment, with around 80% of the employees being female, reflecting our commitment to women's rights.

  • Our products are fermented and naturally preserved, but we recommend consuming them within 7 days of opening.

  • Our cheezes are vacuum-packed in a compostable pouch, which guarantees 16 weeks of shelf life. Our mould-ripened cheezes have a 3-week best-before date.

  • Our aged cheeze packaging is 100% recyclable and plastic-free. The cardboard box can be recycled as paper and the eco-pouch is plant based and compostable. Our mould-ripened cheezes are wrapped in regular cheese paper at the moment, and we are still looking for better alternatives.

  • Yes, it's okay to freeze aged cheeses. They may change in appearance and texture, but they are safe to eat. We do not recommend freezing mold-ripened cheeses.

  • Our cheeze softens when heated, but it does not stretch. This is because it has no casein or other melting agents in it. Our best melting cheezes are Casheumozza and Cheddo.

  • All our products are 100% organic certified and fairtrade. 

  • All our products are gluten-free, soy-free and lactose-free.
